Associated Student Council (ASC) Weekly Meetings

Associated Student Council (ASC) Weekly Meetings

The Associated Student Council (ASC) serves as the official student government at Seattle Central College, representing the interests and concerns of the student body to the college administration. Comprising 6 elected executives and 6 additional associate members, the ASC actively promotes student involvement and fosters an inclusive campus environment. Each member plays a role in addressing campus issues, improving student services, and enhancing the overall student experience.

What They Do

  • Representation: ASC members work on behalf of all students, with designated executives addressing student issues, participating in Board of Trustees meetings, and interacting with the college president.
  • Service & Activity Fee Budget: The ASC, through the Executive of Finance, allocates the Service and Activity Fee Budget to fund a wide range of student programs and initiatives, ensuring resources are used to benefit as many students as possible.
  • Lobbying: The ASC Executive of Legislative Affairs organizes an annual trip to Olympia, allowing students to advocate for issues that impact their education, giving them a voice in state-level political matters.
  • Campus Improvement: ASC members are motivated to make Seattle Central a better place for students. The Executive of Student Success works on identifying and eliminating barriers to student success, while the Executive of Communication ensures effective communication between the council and the broader student body.

By participating in these meetings or engaging with ASC members, students can make their voices heard, contribute to meaningful changes, and stay informed on the issues affecting their college experience.
